Commemoration of the National Martyrs' Day February 18, 2025

On February 18, 2025, a ceremony to commemorate the National Martyrs' Day was held at the headquarters of the Algerian Embassy in Peru, in the presence of Her Excellency Ambassador Nawel Settouti and staff members, during which the national flag was raised to the tune of the national anthem, a minute of silence was observed and the Alfatiha verse of the Holy Quran was recited in memory of our glorious martyrs.
Her Excellency the Ambassador delivered a speech in which she underlined the significance of this commemorative day for the Algerian people, in memory of our brave martyrs who have sacrificed their lives so that a sovereign, free and independent Algeria could see the light of day.
The Ambassador stressed the importance of national history and the need to teach it to the younger generations, who must preserve this sacred link with their glorious past and the revolutionary history of their liberated country at the cost of immense sacrifices and sufferings endured during 132 years of colonial rule.
The Ambassador recalled that one and a half million martyrs have fallen on the field of honor, who deserve the recognition of an independent Algeria that participates in the perpetuation of the ideals of freedom and the spirit of loyalty, self-denial and courage demonstrated by our brave martyrs.
