Message from the President of the Republic on the occasion of the 63rd Anniversary of the Independence of Algeria
ALGIERS - The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, delivered a message today, Friday, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of independence. Here is the full text:
"In the name of Allah, Clement and Merciful, and peace and blessings be upon the most noble of messengers,
Citizens,
Algeria commemorates today a glorious event that holds deep meaning in our hearts. It is the 63rd anniversary of Independence Day and the recovery of national sovereignty: that day when the hordes of hated colonialism withdrew in defeat from our beloved homeland, confronted by brave men who carried Algeria in the depths of their souls and who were steadfastly committed to its liberation.
As we commemorate this glorious date, we evoke those immortal epics waged by our people against colonialism and its implacable forces, a people that kept on the path of sacrifice, offering again and again caravans of brave martyrs until the final victory was achieved.
Citizens,
Since the dawn of its independence, Algeria has devoted itself to enhancing the value of those historical stages which raised our people to the highest heights of sincere patriotism among the peoples of the world. This valorisation has been based on loyalty to the blood shed for the homeland and on the consecration of the pure souls who offered themselves in sacrifice for the dignity of their land, their sky and the destiny of their children.
As we recall these enlightened memories of our nation's glorious history, we are prompted to reflect on the achievements made on the road to strengthening our national immunity, by consolidating the bonds of unity, resolutely advancing in the building of the State, strengthening its institutions and caring for the present of our noble people and the future of its daughters and sons.
Today, Algeria is going through a stage characterised by a new dynamic to face various challenges with full confidence in our national capacities and potentials, inspired by the pure hopes of the citizens.
Our country has gone through successive stages on this path: the path of the victorious Algeria, faithful to its principles, firm in its references and committed to rooting a true citizenship. Thanks to the sacrifices of its sons and daughters, it has succeeded.

The memory of our independence and the recovery of our national sovereignty, in addition to rekindling in us the spirit of remembrance of the great sacrifices made by our people for their liberation, leads us to reflect deeply on the transformations that the world is undergoing today, and how cohesion, unity and an awakened sense of national responsibility are the best way to protect countries from crises and external greed.
On this just path, the Algerian people have always been able to hold on to their unity and remain united, and throughout their history they have been an example to other peoples in terms of loyalty to their homeland.
Distinguished citizens, dear citizens,
As we celebrate this precious and significant event in our national history, which also coincides with Youth Day, I address my mujahideen sisters and brothers, as well as all our daughters and sons, with heartfelt congratulations. I pay tribute to the protector of the homeland, our National People's Army, heir to the glorious National Liberation Army, and to all the security forces and law enforcement agencies that ensure the security of the country and its citizens.
I invite all the sons and daughters of our dear homeland to devote themselves with effort, dedication and awareness of the challenges, inspired by the great principles that guided our immortal martyrs.
Long live free, dignified and great Algeria!
